Costume parties already give guests plenty to look at, and this bingo card turns that people-watching into a game. Squares cover the outfits and the party setup: a couples costume, a homemade costume, vampire capes, plastic fangs, a fog machine, a pumpkin carving contest and the bobbing-for-apples tub. Hand out cards as guests arrive and let them mark squares between drinks and conversations. A 3x3 card suits a short gathering, while a 5x5 card keeps a long night going, since the costume squares only fill as later guests walk in.

Halloween costume party bingo tips
Ask guests to mark Homemade costume only for outfits built at home from cardboard, thrift-store finds or craft supplies, not store-bought kits. Let the person wearing it confirm, and give the most inventive one a small prize at the end of the night.
Run the fog machine in short bursts at set times, such as when the costume contest starts. Players then know when to look for it, and nobody spends the evening waiting for a square that depends on one switch. Keep it away from smoke detectors, which fog can set off.
Set up the pumpkin carving table near the entrance so guests see it early. Players can mark the square after carving or after voting on a finished jack-o'-lantern, which pulls quieter guests into the contest. Put down a trash bag for the seeds and pulp.
Keep the bobbing-for-apples tub on a floor that can get wet, with towels nearby, and remind guests that face paint and wigs may not survive. Only players who actually dunk earn that square.
Couples costume counts for any two guests in coordinated outfits, whether they are partners, roommates or coworkers. Two halves of a pun or a matching pair of ghosts both qualify, and the room can cheer for its favorite.
Best for
Ages
18 and up
Group size
8 to 40 adults, playing in small teams or solo
Duration
30 to 60 minutes, spread across the evening
How to play
No caller: players mark a square when they see the item around them. The first full line wins, so keep the cards until the end of the trip or the walk.
