Mother's Day bingo

By Arthur, founder of BingoCard Lab · Updated Oct 25, 2026

Mother's Day bingo works for a family brunch, a class, a senior center or a church group. Give each player a different card, call squares from the list, and the first full row, column or diagonal wins. Mix in squares that fit every family, like someone who cared for you. Words-only cards are free to print.

Mother's Day bingo fits a family brunch, a class, a senior center or a church group. In the US, the holiday is the second Sunday in May, which falls on May 9 in 2027. President Woodrow Wilson issued the first Mother's Day proclamation on May 9, 1914, says the Library of Congress. Pick squares from the 90 ideas on this page, then make your Mother's Day cards.

Pick your kind of Mother's Day bingo

Three kinds of Mother's Day bingo cards work well. Keep one kind per game, so everyone races for the same thing.

  • Called game. A caller reads squares and everyone marks them. It suits any age and a big room. Draw on the brunch, garden, gift and craft ideas.
  • Moments card. Players mark what happens during brunch, with no caller. The moments ideas are written for this.
  • Kind-acts card. A to-do card for kids, done before the day.

A church group can add a Bible round with ideas from Bible bingo.

A card for every kind of family

Not every player has a mom at the table. Some kids grow up with a grandmother, a stepmom, an aunt, a single dad or foster parents. Some adults are missing their mom this year.

Gratitude squares let all of them play: "Someone who cared for you", "A stepmom or bonus mom", or one gentle "Someone you miss today". The kind acts work the same way, since "Draw them a picture" fits whoever cares for the child. Prompt squares like these read best on words-only cards.

How many calls to plan

A small brunch table plays longer rounds than a full church hall. We simulated 1,000,000 games per setup on our own deck engine, with a 40-item list and a free space on 3×3 and 5×5. Each number is the median count of calls to the first row, column or diagonal.

Grid5 players50 players
3×383
4×41510
5×51711

Unique cards don't rule out ties. Two players can finish different lines on the same call. On 5×5, that happened in 10.4% of games at 5 players and 19.2% at 50. Agree on a tie rule first: split the prize, or call one more square.

Lotería for Día de las Madres

In Mexico, Día de las Madres is May 10, as INEGI notes. If your family plays lotería that day, our generator makes 3×3 or 4×4 tablas with no free space, from 20 to 54 cartas.

Mix the Día de las Madres ideas, like Concha and Papel picado, with garden and gift squares. Open the lotería card generator, or browse the 54 classic cartas.

Make your Mother's Day bingo cards

Start your list by describing your party in one sentence. "Write my list" drafts 30 items, and "Suggest 6 more items" adds more, up to 60. Aim for about 40, the list size our numbers use. Illustrated sets and their prices are on the pricing page.

Which grid?
We suggest 3×3 (8 items + free space) for ages 3 to 5, and 4×4 (16 items, no free space) for early readers. For older kids and adults, try 5×5 (24 items + free space).
Letter or A4?

How long does a game last?
About 13 calls to a first bingo on 5×5 with 20 players, 11 on 4×4 and 5 on 3×3 (our simulation, 40-item list).

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Mother's Day bingo?

Pick one caller and give each player a card and some markers, like buttons, dried beans or mini candies. The caller reads squares from the call sheet, one at a time, and players cover each match. On 3×3 and 5×5 cards, the center free space counts as marked. The first full row, column or diagonal wins. Check the card against the squares called before you hand out a prize.

Is there Mother's Day bingo for adults?

Yes. Grown-ups enjoy a moments card at brunch. Players mark squares like Burnt toast, Happy tears or Baby photos come out as they happen. A toast to the moms is an easy one to land. Add a few of your family's in-jokes as squares. Keep it kind, though: tease the moments, never the person.

How do you make Mother's Day bingo for kids?

Picture cards let kids who can't read yet match the drawing instead of the word. You can also hand out a kind-acts card the week before. Kids mark Give a big hug, Set the table or Water the plants once they've done it. On the day, the filled card becomes part of the gift, for whoever cares for them.

Can a senior center play Mother's Day bingo?

Yes. Memory squares like Button tin, Clothesline or Hand-knit sweater turn each call into a short story. Read each square twice, slowly, and pause for anyone who wants to share. Gratitude squares, like A woman who inspired you, welcome every resident, whatever their family story. Small prizes and a relaxed pace keep everyone in the game.

Where can I find free printable Mother's Day bingo cards?

On BingoCard Lab, words-only cards are free and unlimited, with no email needed. The free PDF carries a small logo. Your first illustrated set is free to preview. To print its pictures, the illustrated PDF takes an Event pass ($4.99 once, per set) or a Pro plan.
